The Sustainable Regulatory Solutions (SRS) has been available via RIAMS for about a year now and we have witnessed so much interest in this innovative approach to helping councils maintain and improve service delivery across their regions while supporting businesses and encouraging compliance.

Using the SRS can help you continue to deliver core services while developing a cost-effective and sustainable delivery model that will stand the test of time.

This framework has been developed, tested and improved by Cornwall Council over a number of years, allowing you to learn from their journey. SRS has also been adopted by local authorities across England and Wales helping to continue this continual improvement.

This framework has 3 main areas, Safer Food Direct, Licensing Direct and the newly added Trading Standards Assured. These products are underpinned by their Core package and include an ever-growing resource of template documents, procedures and frameworks that have helped Cornwall to deliver this time and money-saving service.

Some of the benefits of using the SRS framework include:

— 50%-time reduction on routine inspections following Safer Food Direct visit
— 85% of businesses achieved an NFHRS score of 5
— 100% of businesses that received Licensing Direct said they were very satisfied with the service they received
— 100% of officers felt they developed a better relationship with businesses following the delivery of Safer Food Direct services
— Reduced demand for funded services
— More targeted enforcement capability
— Leads to the development of prioritisation systems
— Earn recognition with cutting-edge regulatory services
— Better protection for the public, environment and economy
