Positive Social Outcomes from Citizen Reporting

10th May 2019 The Noise App

On Wednesday 1 May, Martin Pilkington, one of the RHE Global Directors, and Huw Williams, former Regulatory Services Manager for Ceredigion, attended the ‘Data Bites #2: Getting things done with data in government’ event organised by the Institute of Government and supported by RHE Global. Adam Barrell, Senior Developer was also in attendance at this event to help answer any technical questions.

Their presentation, ‘Generating positive social outcomes from citizen reporting: The Noise App’, focused on how data can be used productively by government and other public bodies to inform and shape policy and priorities. You can view their presentation and slides here.

Speaking after the event, Martin commented that “The time period of eight minutes created quite a challenge in getting across all the benefits of The Noise App and giving an insight into Reportable, the application that we recently launched. There was a consistent theme running through the four presentations delivered at the event and all were warmly received. They generated a great buzz of excitement and much discussion at the reception that followed.

“It was also a great opportunity to speak in front of a Government audience, to the top think tank for Government in the UK, and to reinforce the importance of the work of the environmental health profession; there was also a particular Welsh flavour to the whole event.”
