At the end of June, Cornwall Council was awarded ‘Council of the Year 2019’ at the Regulatory Excellence Awards in London for their continued work at offering regulatory business support through the Business Regulatory Support (BRS) team. The Award ceremony was hosted by the Government’s Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) at the Gowling WLG offices, overlooking London Bridge.
The BRS team provide an initial point of contact for businesses seeking support across a range of areas, including environmental health, trading standards, licensing, fire safety, planning and building control and this award recognises the good work undertaken last year and over the last few years.
As providers of the Sustainable Regulatory Solutions framework, hosted on RIAMS, Cornwall Council has helped lead the way nationally for other local authorities to introduce sustainable cost recovery services.
Packages available for subscription through RIAMS include the Core package, which can be used by any department, Safer Food Direct, Licensing Direct and Trading Standards Assured. A series of Bitesize Guides are also available covering a range of topics and Health and Safety Direct will be coming soon.
