In response to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak we have updated the RIAMS outbreak procedures and published new documents and health protection notices relating to infectious diseases under the Health Protection (Part 2A Orders) Regulations 2010.
The situation regarding the Covid-19 coronavirus is constantly changing, and although the current position in the UK is one of a low-risk of infection, this could change or escalate with very short notice. If the virus does spread and there is an increased risk of infection in the UK, it is likely that environmental health services will be involved with public health colleagues to exercise controls regarding movement restrictions, cleansing and disinfection of premises, etc.
While the Secretary of State and public health consultants are able to exercise powers under the Health Protection (Coronavirus) Regulations 2020, these regulations (specifically Regulation 11) also make it clear that coronavirus can be the subject of Part 2A Order applications under the 2010 regulations.
To assist local authorities in the implementation of suitable controls, we have added some additional resources to RIAMS, which may be useful. The existing Part 2A Order procedure has been moved from Food into Public Health and a series of new Part 2A Order templates have been provided in the Notices section, with template letters to accompany any orders in the Documents section. The new materials can be found at:

If any of our users identify additional resources they believe should be added to the existing material on RIAMS, please let us know by using the Feedback option under the Personal Settings tab, posting on the RIAMS Support Community or firstname.lastname@example.org.
