How User Experience Informs Future Product Development.

7th September 2022 The Housing App

What we do.
We recently announced the release of The Housing App, our dedicated platform for property inspections, surveys and HHSRS assessments,

As with all our products, we are continually looking at ways that we can improve the experience and functionality. Not only because technology is ever-evolving but so are the needs of our customers.

We do this by exploring the user journey in detail, through thorough testing and from talking to our product users. We have recently released some new features to The Housing App and these changes were developed in the same way; by our dedicated team of product testers and user experience designers, of which Csenge, is one of them.

How it’s done.
Csenge has spent time interviewing Environmental Health Officers to fully understand how our products are being used, any shortfalls and ways we can do better. In this way she has been able to act as a representative for both the customer and our development team. By setting up focus groups and 1:1’s, Csenge has been able to fully understand how our products are used in a real world context.

Before any changes are made to a product, Csenge will consider the following;

  • Is the feature something that will improve user experience?
  • Does it solve a problem?
  • Does this change resolve the long term problem that the user is facing
  • Can this change be implemented in the short term? Or does it need longer term planning?
  • What is required from a development point of view?
  • Is this new feature accessible and intuitive for all product users?

What next?
Once our products have undergone a release, the next steps are to continue using our focus group representatives for feedback on the changes. Before starting preparations for the next round of developments…

Keep an eye out for any recruitment drives we do for focus groups - as we welcome honest feedback and reviews. Or get in touch directly with our support desk.
