RIAMS provides a comprehensive library of procedures, documentation and guidance to support the role of officers working within environmental health.
The role of the author is to review procedures and associated documentation held on RIAMS Libraries to ensure they remain high quality, up to date and current. As needed, reviewing is blended with content creation to ensure any new and amended legislation is fully incorporated into the RIAMS Library.
RIAMS Libraries is divided up into main areas of environmental practice, with each area further subdivided into specific subjects. Depending on expertise, authors are assigned sub-areas to review and update the associated procedures, notices and documents.

A practical understanding of the processes involved in inspection, enforcement and environmental health functions
A comprehensive and current understanding of the relevant legislation and regulatory guidance in the specialist area and ability to effectively apply this knowledge
Excellent written communication, with the capability to convey complex regulatory practices effectively
Important information
This role is not a full-time appointment. Most authors undertake the work in their own time and alongside their main employment, thereby providing an additional income.
Procedures are normally sent out to authors by the RIAMS Chief Editor, quarterly, for review. The number of reviews will vary each quarter, and the chief editor will determine the most appropriate authors to complete the reviews.
RIAMS reviewers are required to complete a sub-consultancy agreement with RHE Global prior to commencing any work.
