
Kwajo Tweneboa
Kwajo Tweneboa is a British social issues campaigner dedicated to exposing unsafe housing conditions and holding landlords accountable. After experiencing severe neglect in his own home, he took to social media, forcing action and gaining national attention. His activism has influenced policy discussions, earned him The Big Issue’s Top 100 spot. In 2022, he presented the Channel 4 documentary Help! My Home Is Disgusting, and in 2024, he published Our Country in Crisis, a manifesto on tackling the UK’s housing emergency.

Suzanne Smith
Founder of The Independent Landlord, a leading voice in the private rented sector in England, helping tens of thousands of landlords, letting agents and local government personnel every week through her free website, YouTube channel, membership, and influential weekly newsletter. Before becoming a portfolio landlord in 2019, Suzanne worked as a solicitor in the life sciences industry for 25 years, 12 of which were at board level.

Linda Cobb
In 2005, Linda joined the newly formed Decent and Safe Homes (DASH) team at Derby City Council, working nationally on behalf of local authorities. She has since played a key role in growing DASH into one of the UK’s leading training providers for officers working in the Private Rented Sector, with specialist expertise in HHSRS, damp, and HMO training, while also sitting on the Committee of Management for the National Code for Larger Student Developers as the ANUK member, supporting accreditation schemes that deliver value for landlords, tenants, and local authorities.

Faye Sanders
Faye Sanders, a doctoral researcher at the University of Bath, is a leading voice within the housing and health sector. Faye investigates the role of housing and the built environment in both mental and physical health. Her work is used as evidence by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to inform changes to the Decent Homes Standard and the English Housing Survey. Faye is also Co-Chair of the Housing Studies Association's Healthy Homes Research Network, a group focussing on the future strategies of UK housing research. Faye translates research into actionable insights that inform public policy.

David Cowan
David Cowan is Journal of Law and Society Professor of Socio-Legal Studies at Cardiff University, and a practising barrister at Doughty Street Chambers. He has conducted extensive research over the last 36 years on housing issues, including on housing enforcement.

Tom Marchant
Principal Fire Engineer with the JIT. He holds a 1st Class MEng in Fire Engineering and is progressing CIOB and IEng recognition. A former fighter, and currently working part time with the WMFRS, he has significant experience in both operational firefighting and legislative fire safety, he has inspected complex high-rise buildings, reviewed advanced fire strategies and contributed to specialist fire engineering practice.

Dawood Haddadi
Dawood Haddadi is the Executive Director of the Joint Inspection Team for Building Safety Wales Ltd, leading a Welsh Government–funded national programme to strengthen fire and building safety compliance across high-rise residential buildings in Wales. A Chartered EHP with extensive senior leadership experience, he has transformed services, developed national inspection frameworks and works closely with Fire and Rescue Services, regulators and government partners to improve safety and outcomes for residents.
